Thank you for joining me, and for all your lovely well wishes. I hope you too enjoyed the warm glow of coming together with your yoga community. We had people joining from both the Nortbridge and Greenwich classes, and former Northbridge Yogis now in Avalon, Mission Beach, and even Germany. People connected with family members, my mum was there, and a bunch of our pets got into the vibe! It was really pretty cool. A huge virtual thank you hug to you all.
Online classes now on Zoom
Today is the last day to access content on the Facebook Group and I'm pleased we had such a good following over the past 5 weeks. Thanks for being so flexible in your approach and I know many of you found it a lifeline in this period of turmoil and isolation. Yoga has helped to keep us centred, grounded and to counter the stiffness from lots of sitting. Going forward, I would love to add to your yoga experience the nurturing effects that come from connecting within our yoga community. Moving classes onto zoom allows you to feel the energy of others participating with you and facilitates a more interactive and responsive teaching experience.
For those of you who prefer to practice whenever you like, and perhaps every day, don't worry ... I have you covered too!
A new Mini-Term
Our challenge in any planning right now is to be agile and ready to respond to constant change.
With this in mind, I'm eschewing the regular long school term approach and will start a 5 week Mini-Term next Monday which takes us through to the end of May.
The live zoom classes will be each week at: Monday 5-6pm for a Beginner/Gentle level class Wednesday 8-9am to start the day. This will sometimes be a full 60 minute practice, and sometimes will be a shorter 30-40minute flow practice with an optional add-on restorative section to make up the hour. Friday 9:15-10:45 am- (you can end at 75 mins if that is as long as you would like).
Practising at home is very different to at a yoga studio and I have listened to your feedback about whether people like their practices to be longer or shorter; more dynamic or more restorative; live at set times or available whenever they want. To summarise, you all like something different! With some careful consideration, I hope my new structure offers something for everyone so you can stay practising with teachings that are familiar and helpful to you.
Over the school break, I have completed a further online course in teaching restorative yoga and will add elements of this into some classes, and as some add-ons to the vimeo option.
Costs of Mini Term Memberships
I am reducing the cost of classes for this term to try and make the classes accessible to as many of you as possible. If anyone is experiencing financial difficulty but would still like to access Northbridge Yoga online, please email me so we can make this happen. OPTION 1 One class/week for 5 weeks for $ 75: - Sign up to any one of the timeslots above and join that class live each week - There will be no opportunities for make-ups and no access to videos If you know you only have one set time each week you want to do yoga, then this will be the option for you! OPTION 2 A "mini-term membership" will be $100: - 5 weeks of access to ALL live zoom classes - Potential to do 15 classes live - Doesn't include access to videos OPTION 3 Upgraded mini-term membership is $150: - 5 weeks of access to ALL live zoom classes - PLUS access to recorded classes via vimeo, including extra sessions such as "Gentle practice for a sore back" (already recorded. Others will be added). This is less than normal fees and will allow you to practice at any time that suits you and as many times as you wish. Please note: - There will be no credits for any unused portions of the membership. I invite you to commit to the mini term and make it happen now. - The only way to access the videos is via Option 3. - All options require acceptance of the same conditions that were in the FaceBook Group which can be seen here. BolsterIt has occurred to me lately doing the restorative poses, how much I love my bolster! I think it was the first yoga prop I ever owned (after the initial investment in my mat) and over the decades it gets new covers to suit my changing tastes. Over the years, it has held and supported me for countless hours either in a yoga pose, or simply propped up in bed with my cup of tea and the weekend papers! If you're ever thinking you'd like to add one to your bedroom or living room, now might be the perfect time. I like the organic cotton ones from Stretch Now, but feel free to shop around. If you don't quite have the funds for a bolster now, but would really like to use one as we do some restorative poses in the upcoming term, then please email me and I am happy to loan out the ones that I have at the sailing club.Obviously there is a limited number of these and I will need to ask for the cover to be cleaned before they come back as soon as we restart classes.
